The Gospel Message

The gospel is the good and true news that Jesus Christ has defeated sin, death, and Satan through His life, death, and resurrection. God is holy and perfectly just. He created the world good and designed humanity to live under His loving rule. Yet through sin, beginning with Adam and Eve, humanity rebelled against God, bringing separation, corruption, and death into God’s good creation (Romans 3:23, 6:23).
Rather than abandoning what He made, God acted in love. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem sinners and restore all things. Jesus lived a sinless life (that we could not live), died on the cross in the place of sinners, and rose again in victory! Through Jesus Christ, God is reconciling sinners to Himself and advancing His kingdom in a world broken and distorted by sin.
Scripture declares,
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (ESV)
And again,
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 (ESV)
For a broken, hurting, guilty, and dying world, this is truly good news. The gospel is deeply personal, calling individuals to repentance and faith, and it is also bigger in scope, pointing toward God’s promise to restore all things in Christ.

The Power of the Gospel to Save

The gospel does not merely inform us, it completely transforms us!
For those who place their full faith in Jesus Christ, the gospel means that we have been saved from the penalty of sin, are being saved from the power of sin, and will one day be saved from the presence of sin forever. Through Christ, we are justified before God, day by day sanctified by the Spirit, and promised future glorification when Christ returns.
Scripture reminds us,
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8 (ESV)
And the Apostle Paul writes,
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” Romans 10:9–10 (ESV)
The gospel answers the question of how a sinner can be made right with God, but it does not stop there. It becomes the foundation for every aspect of the Christian life. We do not move beyond the gospel. We grow deeper into it as it reshapes our hearts, our relationships, our priorities, and our hope.

The Gospel and the Mission of the Church

Because the gospel saves us, it also sends us!
The church exists because of the gospel and for the gospel. Jesus calls His people not only to believe the good news, but to live it out and proclaim it in the world. The church is not merely a place we attend, but a people sent by God to bear witness to Christ in everyday life.
Jesus said,
“As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” John 20:21 (ESV)
At Coastal Community Church, we believe the gospel compels us to live on mission beyond the walls of the church, loving our neighbors, making disciples, and pointing others to the hope found in Jesus Christ. This is the hope that our broken world desperately needs!

To learn more about how the gospel shapes the mission of the church, we invite you to watch:

A Loving Invitation

If you are reading this, we believe God may be stirring in your life. You may be exploring questions about Jesus, the gospel, or the purpose of the church, and we are glad you are here. Our prayer is that these resources would help you see the beauty of Christ and the hope found in Him alone.
The Bible calls us not merely to recite words, but to turn from sin and trust in Christ. If God is working in your life and you seriously desire to respond to the gospel, the following prayer is offered simply as a guide for authentically expressing repentance and faith from the heart:

A Prayer of Confession and Trust

God, I acknowledge that You are holy and that I have sinned against You. I have lived life on my own terms and not under Your loving rule. I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son, that He lived without sin, died on the cross for my sins, and rose again in victory. I turn from my sin and place my trust in Jesus alone for forgiveness and new life. Teach me to follow Him as Lord, and lead me by Your Spirit from this day forward. Amen.
